Conflict Resolution Session
Workplace Management Course
In this course which is part of a Workplace management curriculum, the learners are dealing with possible reasons conflicts happen and work on branching scenarios to respond to confrontational situation.

Structure
After introducing the session, the audience are asked to associate some relatable words with conflicts. This quick activity sets their mind and gets them ready for the upcoming scenario. After, they are presented with the problem and the branching scenario where they need to choose the best option and learn the consequences of their choices. The content of the lesson are incorporated into the feedbacks of the choices so the learners are not overwhelmed with information at one point.
The problem
This course can be used in any workplace as the issue is a common situation. Two employees are struggling to meet the deadlines. They are working on a project that is due soon. One of the colleagues is having trouble finishing the sections and this has brought difficulties between them and the reason is new projects that have been assigned to them.
To tackle such a challenge, the other team member needs to communicate and share their concerns. They need to actively create a new action plan and compromise. Conflicts are parts of any workplace and can lead to productivity enhancement if dealing properly. However, if the parties involved fail to recognize the roots and ignore the situation, the conflict gets in the way of their efficiency and causes serious problems.
The e-learning solution
After witnessing several confrontational situations in the workplace and laboratories, I decided to design this e-learning solution to fill the knowledge and conflict resolution skills gap. After interviewing a cross-functional team of subject matter experts (SMEs) and employees, I decided to design a scenario-based, interactive eLearning experience. Based on the SMEs request, I developed a short course for the employees to go over various solutions on their own and there would be a group meeting later to discuss employees concerns. This course is ideal because:
1. The ability to solve confrontational situations is absolutely necessary in any work place. However, this skill cannot be presented with raw information. The eLearning experience that I propose will empower the employees and managers with solutions to practice and apply during conflicts.
2. The e-learning solution is cost-effective, flexible, data driven, and customizable in compare to in-person training. The audience take their own time completing the course.
3. The eLearning solution is a facilitation practice before the meeting to have efficient discussions where the employees converse about different situations and how they could resolve them.
Mind map
During the first meetings with the SMEs to design and develop the course, I used mind mapping technique by Cathy Moore. I used the MindMeister App to create the map before creating the storyboard for the project.

Storyboard
In the beginning, I used Word to sketch the basic structure and the major parts of the project. This process helped to organize the screens and the content presented to the audience.
